This trip was with my church's youth group to First Dinkey Lake and South Lake. We had to split up because we had too many people, so most people hiked to First Dinkey Lake and a four others to South Lake. We took the long deteriorating road up to the trailhead and started off. We had to cross Dinkey Creek and take our boots off to do it. We had to cross it again, but this time there was a log to cross on. We continued on the trail and took the left when we got to the fork for First Dinkey Lake and Mystery Lake. We got to First Dinkey Lake and they set up camp and four of us went to South Lake, which turns out was only 10 minutes away. During the first night we heard a loud crashing sound, whichi think might have been a rockslide (or possibly an avalanche). The next day we went up to Second Dinkey Lake and had lunch on the ridge to the west of the lake (for once there were no mosquitoes there). After lunch we headed up to Island Lake, stayed there a little while, and then headed back. We had dinner, stayed by the campfire, then went to bed. The next day we packed up and went out by Mystery Lake. The trail was really steep in some places, but at least we were going down (although it's hard on the joints). We went by Swede Lake and then had lunch at Mystery Lake. After lunch we dropped down some more, crossed Dinkey Creek and met up with the main trail. Then we headed back to the cars and then back down to the valley. (More detailed description Click Here)
